Correcting Permanent Makeup: Fixing Mistakes
Permanent makeup can, but not always, be corrected. Both the shape and/or color can be adjusted or fixed. Over time, the color of your permanent makeup may change. Don't panic immediately; color change is due to several factors:
- Exposure to sun or tanning beds
- Not fully following aftercare instructions
- Hormonal changes: such as medication intake, chemotherapy, pregnancy, menopause
- Your body’s reaction to the pigment
- Reaction of your undertone
- Pigment aging, breakdown, or wear under the skin
- Use of low-quality pigment by the specialist
If needed, you can consider a correction in shape and/or color.
It's important to gather proper information beforehand. Not all permanent makeup can be corrected. Permanent makeup performed with amateurism can cause permanent physical damage, including scarring, physical injuries, and skin trauma—unfortunate but common consequences of amateur work in permanent makeup. A consultation is always recommended and legally required.
Therefore, choose an expert for your permanent makeup.
